| Though the internal combustion engine may be waning, electric and hybrid motorsports are really picking up steam. The hybrid sportscars are working their way down the market. I wouldn't be shocked if the next GTR (if there even is one) was hybrid. Yes battery development still has a good ways to go, but that market that needs that most is the consumer market, not motorsports. Capacity and charge time are some of the major downsides of fully electric cars. Motorsports can engineer their way around these.
