Message	no. resetting cam as you did won't cause a problem. roughness is probably a miss as you say, maybe a dead cylinder - do a balance test, check connectors, swap coil packs, etc. Also make sure the harness is properly routed and connected to matching cylinders... Idle/stalling could also be due to vacuum leak - try running a boost leak test to see if you can find any loose/leaking connections.
