1. About Torx Bolts
The T-50 bit will not work. Need the tamper resistant bit TR-50 (Hole in center). Often way over-priced ($30). For best prices see link to lara.com below ($4). Service manual says to replace bolts (with OEM). New ones come with thread lock on threads. Old ones can be difficult to remove. Torque spec should be 11-18 ft-lbs. Check service manual.2. Simple air bag test. Self diagnostics. Turn ignition switch on. Air Bag light should come on then go out in about 7 seconds. This check is often done during state inspections. Car will fail if no light or light stays on. For more detailed dignostics procedure see links below. 3. Observe all safety warnings and procedures. People have been killed when hit by a deployed module or when too close to a deploying air bag. Laying module face down is a no-no. 4. Air bag plus module together can be purchased from salvage yard. Make sure it is returnable at no charge if it does not pass self test. See link below for national used parts search below for prices. ECM cannot be easily reset. Best to just replace it. 5.
