Did it have a hard time starting or something? Otherwise the binding you're describing sounds normal when trying to manually rotate the crank because of compression in the cylinders, assuming your spark plugs were still installed when rotating. I think slipping a single tooth would only cause very poor running, there would have to be a much more severe timing belt slip/issue to actually cause interference damage.
