just getting ready to put 'er back together after caliper rebuild and new rotors. the pads I ordered were the Z1 brand of ceramic. They come with a rubberized metal shim bonded to the plate, but this is different from the OEM style with 2 shims, inner one vented. My old rears had the nice Nissan OEMs still in great shape, but the fronts just had the single metal shims bonded to the pad, that was in crappy shape when I took it off. so I checked around and the only shims are Nissan OEM and they are 2X the cost of the pads- hence the question, will the bonded shims on the new pads be OK? I know this got beat to death a few years back, but it seems like most aftermarket pads now come with the bonded shim.

are the shims that come with aftermarket pads enough? - Chemist09:56:17 05/29/24
