A few yrs ago, the dome light in my car stopped going off after closing the door, when set to "door". This was an additional symptom associated with the failure of the remote door opening system. This is a 94-96 feature fitted these yrs. The wiring diagram indicated live power to the dome bulb. Operation was by grounding via 4 routes. The dome switch, door switches, TIME CONTROL UNIT and REMOTE CONTROL UNIT. After many hours of testing and troublshooting, replacing the RCU corrected the problem. This module turns the light on momentarily when the "open" button on the key fob is pressed. Other outside lights also flash when locking. The RCU controls relays that power the tail and pkg lights. I was able to confirm the problem's location to the RCU, when disconnecting all grounding pathways, except the RCU, kept the light on. I hope this write up serves to save time to anyone fscing this problem. In 90-93 cars, this problem would likely be on TCU.
