Message	clutch does anything between the starter and flywheel. unless you have a lot of endplay in your crankshaft and your thrust is out of whack. it could also be a weak ground and your starter is not engaging fully. i would run extra ground wires. i do it for all my vehicles. you woud be surprised how small the ground cable is on a honda civic si.
