Occasionally my starter will make an awful noise and it sounds completely different then when it actually turns the flywheel and starts the car. It's so dreaded people around me gasp when they hear it. When this happens I've found the re-engaging the clutch and even pumping the clutch pedal 2-5 times actually gets it to start the car. Holding the pedal and turning the key again and again doesn't stop the grind, hence needing to reengage. The starter is almost a year old, same thing happened with the previous starter, what could be causing this?? New master and slave cylinder was installed 1/2 years ago.
