| As itsa300zx mentioned in your post down below, the reverse check assembly or specifically the spring that controls its movement could be your problem. If that spring breaks it will lock you out of reverse. Tell your shop to unbolt that assembly from the side of the trans (1 bolt) and see if the spring has sprung. I see it on Ebay and looks like it's used on a bunch of newer Nissans too so should still be at the dealer. Good luck.
