Full disclosure; about 5 years ago my compressor froze and snapped the belt. I saw no signs of the compressor fragmenting when I took the system apart, but in the name of caution I replaced the exp valve, dryer, condenser and of course the compressor. I still have R-12 and want to keep it that way, but I put in a R-134 condenser (has more tubes & fins). and everything else was R-134 compatible. I did flush the condenser with ether and put it in storage. I do not know where you live so I can't tell you how much it would be to ship it. My zip is 91320. If you are interested make me an offer and it is yours. As far as compressors go, I understand Bernie has rebuilt's for sale. I bought a new one from a online parts company and the brand was called OEM. https://www.buyautoparts.com/login.asp. It appeared to be a first class unit and has worked flawlessly, came with a 10yr warranty.
