Hey gang - recently the aux fan on my TT failed. (3 wire) I found a used NA unit (2 wire) and installed it. I tested the replacement fan and confirmed black wire was ground and blue was hot wire and ran with separate battery. I confirmed ground on black wire on connector coming from car and I assumed other two wires were the high speed and low speed switched 12v sources. When I wired up the NA fan I connected the two switched wires into the one hot wire on fan and went on my merry way. When I went for drive and pulled in the fan motor was scalding to touch and smelled of burnt electronics. I didn't think the fan was bad and assume tying the two switched 12V sources should have been fine but did I goof here? Trying to figure out where my wiring assumptions were incorrect…anyone have any insight here?
