Answer 1; You could find a slight coating of oil from the system, that is normal since the Freon carries the oil thru the whole system, never liquid. The only time I have ever seen liquid anywhere in the system is when a person tried to use a quick flush product; they never work or come all the way out of the system. This makes me wonder if your condenser is also holding liquid... Freon is a gas at room temp and above unless under pressure. Answer 2: Whenever the expansion bulb senses an increase in suction line temperature, the liquid expands, increasing the pressure in the fixed volume, and pushes the diaphragm down, thereby opening the valve and allowing more liquid refrigerant into the evaporator. So unless you place the bulb in hot water it will be in the closed position which acts like a spray can nozzle and puts out a mist. See what happens with the bulb heated. If you have everything open you might as well put in a new expansion valve, then test for the noise again. When you blow air thru the evap and hear the noise, can you here where it is coming from? With the expansion valve out, can you blow thru the evap easily?
