Some time ago, my key fob stopped working. Assumed it was the battery, and replaced it with a new battery, but it still wasn't working. I've got a few extra remotes lying around and tried to program one of them to the car. I have programmed remotes before, but probably not for my current Z. I don't remember if the car beeps when you enter programming mode, or after it recognizes the first remote button press. Needless to say, I cannot get the car to recognize any of the remotes. I've tested the remotes with a frequency tester and they are working. The alarm works and the the hatch switch works as well (interior light comes on when the hatch is opened). I saw one post mentioning the ignition switch, but I don't think there's any real way of testing it. It does beep when in the accessory position. I'm not sure what else to test. Anyone else have a similar issue?
