Message	I use a simple IC extractor to remove the eprom, not all sockets are made the same. Most are just a rectangular ring with no backing in the center. (unlike the one shown in Cjw3 write up) Be careful not to damage the tracing under to eprom/socket if using a screw driver to pry it up. Very important to have the eprom "half moon indent" lined up to the board marking.
