I think you are jumping the gun here! First of all, did you do a pressure test on the cooling system? That is the very first thing you should do. YOu can rent/borrow the tester from Autozone. You need to see if the system is holding pressure. If it is not, look for leaks (coolant loss may be very slight and leaks not otherwise apparent). You also need to listen carefully, in case it leaking somewhere not so obvious (such as internal to the engine). If you arent holding pressure and can't see where the leak is, I would do a compression check on all cylinders. This should help determine if you have a head gasket leak, and can proceed from there. Meanwhile, don't freak out and assume the worst. Take it one step at a time in a logical progression, starting with very basic and easy tests.
