At idle, after letting it warm up, pull the coil pack electrical connections one at a time. When you pull one, the engine should bog down considerably, and then should recover instantly when you re-plug it in. When you pull one and the idle doesn't change, that's your problem cylinder. I've had your exact symptoms a few times over 17 years of Z ownership. Car would intermittently idle bad, but always ran smoothly at higher RPM. Every time it turned out to be either a failing injector, or a corroded injector connection. You say up front that the injectors are suspect. I think you're right. Good luck! -Jason
