Subject	Gasket vs Silicone ?

Message	Hello Im doing the 120k timing belt service...The manual instructs liquid gasket on water pump, upper/lower radiator neck, Coolant Bypass to Head Connector. Is there some serious technical reason for gunking everything up with silicone ? I want to use a real gasket with Permatex Avation liquid sealant on each side. In my eyes this is little more "professional" solution. Is there anything wrong going the gasket way ? Or should i stick to silicone ? Thanks
