Subject	Speed sensor or instrument cluster diagnosis?

Message	Before I take this to my mechanic, do these symptoms sound more like a sensor or cluster issue? I have a 90 300zx NA base model. Speedometer stopped working 6 weeks ago. This had occurred intermittently with MPH at zero when not working. Also when the speedometer stops, odometer slows way down, maybe 1 mile on odometer for 5 actual miles. When speedometer is working fine, odometer is fine also. While it was intermittent originally, it has progressively gotten worse, speedometer rarely working now with slowed down odometer. Thanks!
