Message	start with a 0.035" feeler gauge and add more to get the fit in the slots fairly snug. Then use a Crescent wrench on the stack for leverage to turn everything. I would not use heat, there's a spring in the valve that will be affected adversely with too much heat. Yes, on the lefty-loosey, righty-tighty.
