If it was just stopping then I would say there could be a spot where it sticks and is shutting the motor off like it's hitting a limit switch, so maybe the track was out of alignment or dirty and needed to be cleaned and lubricated. However, hearing it bottom out and the motor continue to run makes me think something in the gear box is stripped or severely worn or the gears are off. Do a visual with the panel off and make sure the gear from the gearbox and the armature are engaged during complete travel. Looking online I found videos of early 90's Fords (Rangers mostly) that had a problem with plastic pieces being chewed up inside the gearbox. There could be a coupling in yours that is worn. I couldn't find anything on the inside workings of the Z's window gearbox (from a quick Google search).
-------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------- Conversation between my sister and my wife (shortly before we got married): Wife: "You know, sometimes I think he loves that Z more than he does me." Sister: "He probably does, and as long as you're okay with that, everything will be fine." |
