I used a razor blade to remove all the old trim (it came off quite easily). I used some #600 grit sandpaper to rough up the chrome. Prepped it with rubbing alcohol followed by a wipe down with water. Masked areas around trim and painted it with black bumper trim paint. It looks (to me) as good as new trim. As an aside, I also painted the lower door trim and rear window trim pieces as well. They had become water spotted and worn looking. I simply scuffed them as above, and cleaned them off with water, masked, and painted them. The trim of the car looks like new. Probably 3ish hours from start to finish.
