Message The Z hasn't been run often over the last few years but decided to get her back out there recently and over the weekend did a couple stock boost pulls. Just wanted to see if she could handle it ok. All was well and good until the CEL came on and she started stumbling and black smoke pouring out the exhaust. Limped it home, had trouble getting above 1,200 rpm before needing to change gears the whole way. Other symptoms are kind of like a bad coolant temp sensor: lots of fuel burning black smoke, bad idle, however it did not overheat. Temp was normal on the gauge. Let it sit overnight and checked in the morning: no drips underneath. Tried to turn the POT for ECU test but the light just stays on, no blinking.

I've replaced the coolant temp sensor just in case and that didn't do anything. What could it be and how can I get the ECU to tell me why it popped the CEL?
