Then is Likely the Nose of the Crank might be Mushroomed.. Get a CLEAN File and 'Flat File' the part of the crank just before the Nose End.. you are looking for any High Spots on the Shaft ( stay away from the End at First ). Once you get the feel of the File and Steel, start filing on the Round of the Crank ( Again, keeping the File FLAT on the Steel ) then make a Swipe of the File off the End of the Crank.. keeping it flat the entire time. 'We' are looking for Shinny Spots that the File will show when it takes a bump off the shaft. We are not making the shaft smaller, we are dressing off the Knots and Bumps that are LIKELY on the End of the Crank, that is preventing the Cam gear from going on..As you get more Comfortable with how the File is SLIGHTLY cutting the Round of the Shaft, then try and put a SLIGHT bevel on the End of the Crank.. Do all of this while each time you take a file cut you have rotated the Crank a LITTLE.. we do not want to make flat spots, we just want the Bumps and Lumps off.. Use only a File, as it will be flat, if you use paper, it will conform to the Lumps and Bumps and just make the entire shaft smaller.. Please post what you find.. pictures of your progress would be nice so I can see your shinny spots VS Old Marks.. Cj
