Message	control system. When you select defrost it engages the a/c compressor. When the a/c compressor engages the IACV adjusts the idle up to compensate for the additional load of the a/c compressor. If the a/c compressor is not engaging and thereby creating a drag on the engine the idle will ramp up as a result. To check for this warm up the car and turn on the a/c or defrost. Look at the front of the a/c compressor and observe whether the clutch is engaged.
