I've been considering painting the factory rims on my own since I've been able to do reasonable paint work now and then. I did my wife's car at one point but the paint slowly faded so I think I used the wrong paint. After sanding the wheels, I used a white primer, then put several coats of the red paint down then put a couple of coats of clear on them as well. Still, with all that, they faded and I could eventually see the white primer no less. Has anyone done this and could you share your thoughts on perhaps the process but also the kind of paint to use that would not fade as my other job did. Thanks.
