I finally had some time today to work on the 300zx. I replaced the connectors for the idle air control valve and the AAC valve. Since doing that, the brake warning light & stop/tail warning lights on the instrument cluster both come on when I start the car, and whenever I accelerate. But they do not come on when I hit the brakes. Nor when I decelerate or go a constant speed. So the brake lights issue is getting better, but it's not totally fixed yet. Any ideas what would cause them to come on when I start the car and when I accelerate? That seems really odd to me. As for the idle issue, after replacing the IAC valve connector and AAC valve connector, the idle smoothed out and I think it's good now. So I must have had a bad connection in one or both of them. I need to drive it more to be sure. But I am optimistic that the idle is fine now.
