Message I am installing a rebuilt short block and progress has ground to a halt. As soon as the radiator was included the coolant system was pressurized revealing a slow drip from the bottom of the bell housing. Off with the trans to find the leak was draining from the valley (between the heads). Off with the plenum to see the seeping center freeze plug. Tried a Nissan plug with silicone, then a brass dorman with shellac with no luck. Close inspection of the plug bore shows a small grinder nick that is the root cause.
I knew this was going too easy lol. So short of backing this motor all the way out what are my options? At this point jb weld is tempting but I'd like to retain some plug functionality even though FL car.
Block history precludes builder support. Technically it's a Z1 built block but I bought it unused from cl.
