My friend had an NA and he never noticed any fan noise until he drove my TT. It sounds like a truck in low gear. Well, that's a slight exaggeration but it is certainly noticeable. Both the water pump pulley and fan shroud are critical to ensuring the fan operates at the OEM speed. The TT fan runs faster to dissipate more heat. I'm running an aftermarket HOWE radiator and will change over to the NA fan at the next opportunity. So long as you have sufficient margin with the thermostat and radiator there is no downside to running the slower NA fan that I can think of... especially for you Canadians in the colder climates.
