I'm not liking the 4.08 gear in the NA. Its way too low a gear for my driving style; certainly too low for any highway cruising. Its like I'm shifting out of first gear at 20 mph which makes the gear seem useless. Given my '96 NA R200 rearend, w/ 200K miles on it is already going to need replacement, I have been researching changing it out for one from a 90-96 Q45. I believe it uses a taller 3.54 ratio, which I think would be more to my liking. If nothing else... more cruise friendly. I have read, but cannot confirm, it shares the same the case, mounting points, input and output shaft flanges as the NA diff and would be a bolt in exchange. Can anyone confirm this is a 'drop in swap'? I'd have it rebuilt locally and have the parts off my 200,000 mile NA diff in case I needed output flanges etc.
