My two cents. One very odd thing happend to me recently. When I was putting the crank pully back on, the woodruf key slipped out of its slot and was wedged between the outer flat washer and the back of the pulley. This resulted in the accessory belts being pushed outward enough for the belts to be out of alignment and whine. Kept time for some reason but once I finally figured out that the key was out of place, had dented the washer, and put it back in the correct place (with a new washer) things improved dramatically.
