I bolted up one of the rotors after getting them re-surfaced and put a dial indicator on it. I found 0.067" from high spot to low spot at the OD of the rotor. I then installed the other rotor on the same wheel hub and measured again with the same result (and with the high spot in the same place). The cause appears to be that the wheel hub face has raised areas around the periphery, apparently from being beat with a hammer. I just can't imagine why someone would hammer on the edges of the wheel hub - this would not seem to be helpful in removing or installing the hub or removing/installing the wheel studs.
I'm anxious to see how my gas mileage will improve after I get this corrected.
