The fan clutch has become "stuck" per se. The fan doesn't move as freely when spun by hand as it should, and I'm getting that "whooshing" sound upon acceleration. I searched and found numerous posts about this problem all with different answers and opinions. I'm guessing all that has to come off for replacement is the fan shroud? Will it do any harm besides that annoying "whooshing" sound if I don't replace it anytime soon? And parts wise,an oem fan clutch is $217 vs an Autozone Duralast for $49. I'd go ahead and replace the fan as well. Oem is $91.68 vs Autozone's VDO and Duralast for $55. On a 21 year old car,are the Autozone parts sufficient? And besides the annoying noise, can I just drive it with the sticking fan clutch for now?
