If you want to improve cooling try removing the casting flash in the main water pump passage Linky You can go deeper than they show, I got a 12" carbide deburring tool and smoothed the entire passage front to back. Obviously should be cleaned out really well. As far are removing your thermostat, you will run into multiple problems. Your engine will take much longer to heat up (reducing efficiency) and when warm your water will not have enough residence time in the radiator to cool properly, which can lead to overheating.
