Subject	Speedometer suddenly stopped working

Message	I went out of town this weekend and got in my car to return home today and the speedometer is not working. Everything else (tach,fuel,oil pressure,odometer) all work perfectly. I searched here and found the location of the speed sensor. Do speed sensors just go bad unexpectedly,all of the sudden? Should I go ahead and replace it and see what happens? Is this a very intricate/complicated repair? I can't get my car high enough off the ground to where I have easy access to it. I looked at all the wires and connections to it and all looks fine. How easy is this to replace without messing anything else up? I just wish I had a garage with a lift.
