Message You're trying to determine if you should bolt the torque converter to the flexplate and then install the trans, or if you should install it onto the trans and then mate the trans to the engine?

You should install the torque converter onto the transmission first to ensure it installs fully (never done an auto Z, but every other auto I have done is 3 'clicks' to install (stator, impeller, pump). Then you install the trans onto the engine and check the clearance between the flexplate and the torque converter pads. You may have to look up what it should be for the Z, but generally between 1/16" and 1/8" clearance between the two
