Message And the bores can be checked with a dial bore gauge.

You can set up a sort of jig to check concentricity of the crank journals and main journals if desired, I don't believe main walk is as much a concern for the VG as it has an integral cap girdle.

When you get it apart you should be able to visually tell whether it's toast or not; if the crank surfaces are still shiny chances are you're good to go. If the spun bearing marred the surface it is done for.

Apparently (below) the check valves are available. Before installing you should inspect the check valve OD and bore ID (gauge pin for that small of a bore) to ensure there is a proper amount of press fit.
