It connects from ECU pin 23 to the sensor. There's a shield wire that's around it which travels from ECU pin 50 to the connector that connects to the short harness in front of the firewall that goes to the sensor. That shield stops at that connector and only a single wire goes from there to the sensor in the short knock sensor harness. The sensor still needs a ground but it gets it from the engine block where it's mounted. The bottom of the sensor has exposed metal which makes the ground connection so make sure the area underneath it where it's mounted is clean. The sensor has two pins in its connector but only one is used for the signal wire. DO NOT attempt to connect a ground wire to the other unused pin. There needs to be a break there to eliminate what's called a ground loop. A ground loop can introduce electrical noise into the signal wire which will interfere with it's operation.
