I had a couple of components break on my VG after installing a greddy belt with the new ferrea valve train components and JWT 500 cams. I had an idler fail in just a few thousand miles, and it was OEM. And the DS exhaust cam snapped off at the snout.
I am not attributing that a hundred percent to the belt, but it was a lot noisier with that belt on. It also made the tensioner chatter at certain rpm. There is a thread somewhere on here where someone else experienced something very similar with the same setup I had.
