I called up RL and talked with Dave who is their tech guy. I told him that I'm running my car on a big road track and was worried about 95-100F ambient temps along with the oil potentially going over 250-260+. He tells me there is no need to change the RL 10w40 after just 1 session and I could use it for multiple track days. He also told me 10w40 should be fine and I don't need to go to 15w50. He said the heat may get a little worse with the increase friction from viscosity. Any thoughts? I was going to move to a cheap oil like Valvoline VR1 and just change every session, but now I'm wondering if I'm better off sticking with RL products with fewer changes.
