Message I am aware of the shaft runout and end play inspection procedure from the FSM, as well as the wastegate actuator test. But is there any way to inspect the oil seal?

I have 3 or 4 sets of stock turbos in my garage from projects I have bought in various stages. I am working on a new project and curious if there is a good way to inspect the turbos for functionality.

I have reason to believe there could be oil getting by the CHRA, as oil had pooled at the compressor housing/wheel on at least two sets upon removal from engine. However in all cases, the motors the turbos came off of had either holes in pistons or bad piston rings resulting in serious blow by so oil was present in the intake system from that issue as well.

So short of installing them onto the engine and waiting for blue smoke, is there something more proactive I can do for inspecting the oil seals?
