for loosening any bolts... only for torqueing them. Would hate for it to get out of calibration. I just had to deal with this on a friends car, he stripped the fitting out so I had to TIG a socket to it and get it out that way (90% sure it was the heat that did the trick, though) I would heat it up, but try not to get too hot as you don't want to burn the gear oil on the other side or warp the aluminum. Maybe a pencil torch?
