throws are also different lengths. 5th feels much shorter than the others. It's also quite hard to shift into. No buzzing noise though. I just rebuilt my transmission and it never grinds. It just feels like the shifter isn't aligned perfectly. The Audi A3 uses adjustable shifter cables. The manual calls for locking the shifter in neutral and relieving the tension in both cables. I know we don't have cables, but have you tried getting someone to hold the shifter in neutral? Then, you could shimmy the bracket back and forth until it "feels right". Or maybe shimmy until all throws are equal length? Let me know if you find a method.
