Message unplugged?). If not, unplug the TPS sensor and report back.

Logic: with the sensor unplugged, the ECU is taking its signal from the switch so you are (pretty) sure that the ECU knows that the throttle plate is closed (ie. idle) and that it should be running the car off maps and not off of O2 sensors.

If this fixes the problem:

Then you know you have a problem with the TPS sensor or the electrical connection.

If this doesn't fix the problem:

Then you know you have a bad TPS switch or connection, or an air problem or a fuel problem because the car is running off the ecu fuel maps.

You can eliminate the possibility of a bad TPS switch by confirming that there is continuity between the upper two pins when the throttle plate is closed. If this switch is good, then you either have unmetered air or a fuel problem and you will have to hunt it down. I'd start with the electrical connectors first - any that you recently messed with - and go from there.

I hope this helps...

Also, do have access to Nistune or any diagnostic software? If so, you can use the software to confirm that the ECU is seeing the correct idle signal from the TPS directly.
