I think I'm experiencing the same "grounding" issue with my PTU as you did, though somewhat different. I was checking the sub-harness continuity and got good readings from E connectors to all coil connectors. Then I checked the ground wire and got infinite resistance. Pulled the sub-harness connector out of the original connector and a big puff of white corrosion dust greeted me; I actually blew out the connectors with an air gun and generated a cloud of white powder! Checked the ground of the original connector and got good readings. Started to clean the male spade ground of the sub-harness and i'm beginning to get some continuity, but still relatively high resistance ~70 Ohms. I think if I clean this contact good enough and get acceptable ground, this my solve my issue... Crossing fingers...
