The tensioner should (by design) put the adequate amount of pressure based on the charge in the hydraulic cylinder. My guess is you didn't put enough pressure on the tensioner when you tightened the bolts down, or possible the bolts weren't tight enough and it slipped (less likely) Just repeat the process and put a little more tension on it. What I do when I install a timing belt: -Adjust the gap to 4mm with the bolt (i.e. slowly compress with a wood clamp or other soft clamp, loosen bolt, releast clamp slowly, measure, repeat) -Install tensioner, put pressure on lightly increasing until I see the piston just barely compress past the bolt -Tighten bolts while holding -Rotate 1 CW, 1 CCW -Remeasure (Usually grows to 5mm) Never had any issues
