| Preface: I'm not pre-supposing that this is a final answer, but it is information I obtained from my Nissan/Infiniti parts buddy, and I hope it will be of some use in resolving the question: in regards to the following posts.... [ http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=2464493 ] [ http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/general/view/2362393/Whats-the-correct-color-to-repaint-the-cowls.html ] my parts buddy said simply that the coloring on the trim is a coating, and he said some of the Nissan coatings are some kind of tape or adhesive layer. He said he would have to actually look at the piece in question to know what coating it is. In other words he is saying that the coloring is not paint. He said the only way to replicate the color as new is to obtain a new Nissan piece. However, we both also believe that some paint guru or some amazing paint-matching machine could re-create a paint that would match the original finish.
