I feel you there I finished up my today and while doing so my rack and pinion was one of the loose ends I tied up. I didnt use the turn method but the string method instead. Its pretty much dailed in and rolles straight but I paid for a life time alignment at Firestone so they should be to upset.
Last couple that I have done have so close that they didnt have to make hardly any adjustment. I have 1'-1/8 on each side from thread to locknut. But then again I did shocks, struts, springs, bushing, and tie rods. Pretty much everything except king pin, fuca, flca, but they got need bushing. I try to do as much as possibly all at once on both side so I dont have to come back to it for a long time!
