I'm swapping out my steering rack since it's leaking from every orifice. Last night I removed my lower steering u-joint (super easy yay!). Now I'm stumped... When do you decide to toss a steering u-joint? The 170,000 mile original u-joint has a small amount of rotational play. Probably a bit less than 1mm. I have another u-joint sitting on my desk with a bit more than 1mm of rotational play. Steering wheel slop isn't huge, however there's usually room for improvement right? Do new u-joints come with zero rotational play? Is it worth ponying up $160 for a new u-joint? When do you consider a u-joint "bad"? Thanks
