Message Well I think I have ruled out the battery and the charging system (alternator). I tried connecting my battery charger and putting it in "Engine Start" mode (125 AMP). The onboard voltmeter on the charger read that it was delivering 14.1V but it made no difference same problem still clicking.

So I started turning the key to the ignition off and on in rapid fire succession. After several dozen attempts - bam the starter engaged and the engine turns over and fires right up. Everything seemed to be running fine:

Multimeter voltage readings:
Battery disconnected - 12.31V
Engine Idling - 14.35V

So I think those readings confirm the battery and alternator are just fine.

I let the engine warm up to normal operating temperature and then shut it off. Tried starting again and I'm back to the clicking :(

So I'm guessing it's either the relay or the starter (solenoid) itself? Is it worthwhile / adviseable to try switching the ignition/starter solenoid with another of the same time and see if the problem goes away.

Otherwise - what should I do next? Bench test the starter? How does one do that? Where is it located?

--Thanks!
