Message	shields are not needed. the coatings even though they insulate heat they still require the function of breathing to promote transfer. I would not suggest wrapping downpipes but have those coated as well. The wrap will form moisture between the wrap and the downpipe and will cause oxidation to the surface of the component especially around the welds. Good luck on your mods moving fwd.
